02nd June 2025

The UK Government has recently announced the postponement of physical and identity checks on medium-risk fruit and vegetable imports from the EU. Originally set to begin on 1 July 2025 as part of the Border Target Operating Model (BTOM), these checks will now take effect on 31 January 2027.

Defra has clarified that while documentary checks will continue, the physical and identity checks will not be implemented as initially planned.
